Salinas police are searching for the man who robbed a convenience store on Sunday. Officials say that a masked man in a black hoodie entered the John Street mini-mart, brandished a handgun and demanded money. The 59-year-old clerk cooperated and handed over the contents of the cash drawer. The robber assaulted the clerk anyway pistol whipping him in the face before firing into a surveillance monitor and fleeing down front street.
