Salmon Death 12/4/20 7a Ci

Researchers in the Pacific Northwest discovered that a toxic chemical used in the production of tires is killing coho salmon in Washington state and is now believed to affecting the salmon population in California.

 The chemical is known as “6-p-p-d” and was found in waterways near the San Francisco bay and close to other creeks and streams around major freeways.

 On the central coast, the Coho salmon face extinction with only one percent of the population remaining.
