A SALINAS WOMAN IS IN JAIL AFTER SELLING HER ELECTRONIC WELFARE BENEFITS CARDS FOR DRUG MONEY. OFFICIALS SAY 22-YEAR-OLD LORENA CERVANTES WAS GIVEN 11 CARDS OVER A 3-MONTH-PERIOD REPEATEDLY CLAIMING SHE HAD LOST THEM. INVESTIGATORS FOUND NO SIGN OF CERVANTES USING THE PUBLIC ASSISTANCE CARDS IN SURVEILLANCE FOOTAGE INSIDE THE LOCATIONS WHERE THE CARDS WERE TRACED. CERVANTESHAS BEEN SENTENCED TO 280-DAYS IN JAIL AND THREE-YEARS OF FELONY PROBATION.
