A new Wal-Mart store in Salinas is scheduled to open its doors for business this week. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is set for 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, at the North Main Street mega-store, and shoppers will be let in at 8 p.m. The 102-thousand square foot store is expected to employ about 300-people, and is scheduled to be open 24-hours-a-day, 7-days-a-week. Several grants from the Wal-Mart foundation will be announced at the ceremony, to local organizations including the Central Coast Y.M.C.A., Foundation for the Monterey County library, Future Citizens Foundation, and the organization Monterey County Police Activities.
