Monterey county officials are debating a moratorium on new wells. That’s because of continued seawater intrusion in the Salinas valley groundwater basin, and a deeper aquifer that helps provide municipal and agricultural water. A meeting is scheduled to take place on this matter tomorrow, in the County Government Center in Salinas, beginning at 1:30 p.m.
