A TOWN HALL MEETING, CENTERING ON IMMIGRATION REFORM, IS SCHEDULED TO TAKE PLACE IN SALINAS ON SATURDAY. SERGIO GUZMAN, VICE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED FARM WORKERS UNION, AND U.S. DEMOCRATIC REPRESENTATIVE LUIS GUTIERREZ OF ILLINOIS, HOPE LOCAL FARM WORKERS, RECENT IMMIGRANTS AND COMMUNITY LEADERS, WILL COME OUT TO AIR THEIR OPINIONS ON THE CURRENT AgJOBS BILL. IF PASSED, THE LEGISLATION WOULD GIVE CAREER FARM WORKERS (HERE IN THE UNITED STATES) LEGAL STATUS RIGHTS, IF THEY CONTINUE TO WORK IN AGRICULTURE. THE MEETING IS SCHEDULED TO BEGIN AT 10:00 A-M SATURDAY, AT THE WESTERN STAGE MAIN THEATER AT HARTNELL COLLEGE.
