A Salinas business woman, who was charged with tax evasion and assisting in preparing false tax returns, was sentenced Monday to spend 15 months in prison. Lydia Hernandez of Lydia Hernandez Tax Services was also ordered to pay $35,4-33 in restitution. Hernandez is charged with preparing 39 income tax returns for 13 clients for the 2002 through 2005 tax years. Hernandez was also sentenced to 3 years of supervised release. She is expected to begin her sentence on September 27th.
