a fatal shooting in salinas last night is being investigated as gang related. 37 year old jose antonio meza was talking with the suspect in a yard near garner avenue and sunrise street around 9:40 p.m. when the man pulled out a gun and shot meza several times. he was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. this is salinas’ 9th homicide this year.
