salinas police officers are investigating a shooting last night that led to the city’s 7th homicide of the year. 26 year old santiago ramirez was riding his bike around 11:30 p.m. near alma and second avenue when a car pulled up alongside him and a passenger began shooting. ramirez was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. the suspect vehicle is described as a dark colored suv. the shooting is believed to be gang related. anyone with any information is asked to contact the salinas police department.
