Salinas Seeks To Keep Shopping Carts At Stores 10-26-18 04:33 DC

The city of Salinas says complaints from citizens are driving a proposal to require shopping carts to remain in parking areas of the stores that offer them. Homeless advocates say the proposal would hurt people who use the carts as mobile storage for their belongings. City officials say carts are turning up in all parts of the city and don’t belong to the people who are using them.

The proposal may be considered at a November Salinas City Council Meeting. Offenders would face fines.
