MONTEREY COUNTY WATER OFFICIALS HAVE ACCEPTED A RECOMMENDATION TO USE A SALINAS RIVER WATER RIGHT PERMIT. MEMBERS OF THE WATER RESOURCES AGENCY ACCEPTED THE ADVISORY COMMITTEE’S PROPOSAL IN A MEETING YESTERDAY MORNING (WED). THE PERMIT WOULD DIVERT RIVER WATER FOR AGRICULTURAL AND URBAN USE. THE AGENCY ADDED THEY WANT THE RIVER PROJECT TO BE PART OF A LARGER SOLUTION FOR SALINAS VALLEY. THE PROPOSAL WILL BE REVIEWED NEXT BY THE FULL AGENCY BOARD ON JUNE 2ND.
