Salinas Red Light Cameras Issuing Warnings 10-31-19 13:40 DC

If you live in Salinas or drive there often, you may have seen the city’s new automated red light cameras standing beside intersections.

Beginning tomorrow (Friday), drivers the system catches running red lights will receive a warning in the mail.

After 30 days, warnings will be replaced by real citations for drivers who run red lights.

Police officials say the program is aimed at improving safety and red light awareness. They add that it will operate on a break-even basis, with the city expecting to receive little or no additional citation income from the program.
