Salinas Police K9 to get donated body armor 10-02-19 14:00 DC 2

The Salinas Police Department’s K9 officer, a German Shepherd dog named Keno, will soon be receiving a bullet and stab protective vest. This thanks to a donation from the non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s.

The Massachusetts-based group is a 501c (3) charity established in 2009 to assist law enforcement agencies with potentially lifesaving body armor for their K9 officers.

Since its inception, Vested Interest in K9s has provided over 3,400 protective vests, through private and corporate donations, at a value of $5.7 million dollars.

Keno’s vest should arrive in a few weeks.
