A phone scam has duped a Salinas woman of over 500 dollars.
The women received a phones call Tuesday from someone claiming to be a police official.
The man told the women she failed to appear in court for a traffic violation and if she didn’t give a credit card number she would be placed under arrest. The woman drove into town to buy a prepaid credit card.
Local authorities would like to remind everyone they never contact people over the phone about traffic warrants.
