The parents of a 6-year old boy maybe facing a felony firearms charge after their son suffered critical injuries during an accidental shooting this week. No adults were at the Santa Rita Street home Tuesday just after 5 p.m, when the boy began playing with his father’s loaded shot gun. His 12-year old brother tried to take the gun away from him, when it accidentally went off shooting the boy in the abdomen. The parents could be charged with a felony for keeping the shotgun accessible to a minor since the law allows it when the result is serious injury or death. The final decision concerning charges will be made by prosecutors.
