The winter warming shelter in Salinas closed today, and the Union Headquarters And Overnight Shelter opened this evening. The new facility is located at 20 Soledad Street, and it is designed to serve as offices and educational facilities, as well as a community center and an overnight shelter for 50 displaced people. The Homeless Union was created to help a variety of people who are homeless, or living in sub-standard housing. Donations of clothes, blankets, sleeping bags, toiletries, cots, books and food will be gratefully accepted.
