Two men are dead following two shootings in Salinas over the weekend. In the first incident, 43-year-old Jose Delores Salazar was walking near his home on the 700 block of Holly Street at about 8:20 p.m. when he was confronted by three men, all wearing black. One of the men shot Salazar several times. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The shooting is believed to be gang-related.
The second incident occurred at about 10 p.m. Saturday. Officers investigating reports of gunfire arrived on scene at the intersection of East Lake and North Main Streets to find a victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. 42-year-old Dexter Barnett Senior was pronounced dead at the scene.
