A Salinas man accused of murder and felony elder abuse appeared in court for a preliminary hearing yesterday. 34-year-old Matthew Roberts is accused of killing his father in February. Police found the body of 70-year-old Jerry Roberts in his home while conducting a welfare check. A Monterey County judge ruled that there was enough probable cause to believe Matthew Roberts killed his father. Roberts will enter a plea on May 12th.
