SEVERAL BLAZES WERE EXTINGUISHED THROUGHOUT THE CITY OF SALINAS YESTERDAY. THE FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED AFTER THE EXTERIOR OF A HOME ON ENOS ROAD OFF RIVER ROAD IGNITED AROUND 11:30 A.M. THE BLAZE CAUSED ROUGHLY $10,000 WORTH OF DAMAGE. OFFICIALS SAY THE FIRE WAS NOT SUSPICIOUS IN NATURE AND NO CAUSE HAS YET BEEN DETERMINED. A FAULTY HEATER WAS THE CAUSE OF A SECOND FIRE THAT BROKE OUT IN A SOUTH SALINAS APARTMENT ON NISSEN ROAD AROUND 2:30 LEAVING A FAMILY HOMELESS. CREWS WERE ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE BLAZE BEFORE ANY OTHER APARTMENTS WERE DAMAGED.
