SALINAS VALLEY MEMORIAL HOSPITAL WAS THE SITE OF A FREE FLU VACCINATION CLINIC ON SATURDAY. OVER 1 THOUSAND MEN, WOMEN AND CHILDREN SHOWED UP TO GET THEIR FREE FLU SHOTS AT THE HOSPITAL. THE EVENT WAS A JOINT EFFORT BETWEEN THE MONTEREY COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT AND THE HOSPITAL, WHICH USED VOLUNTEER STAFF AND NURSES TO ADMINSTER THE STATE FUNDED VACCINATIONS. FLU SEASON CAN LAST INTO APRIL, AND AS OF FRIDAY THERE HAVE BEEN 45 DEATHS ATTRIBUTED TO THE FLU IN THE STATE.
