The Salinas fire chief is moving on to greener pastures.
Chief Jeff Johnson, who started last June, is leaving for a larger fire department in Virginia. Johnson said in a letter to the “Salinas Californian” that his departure is in the best interest of his career and family.
According to the president of the Salinas Firefighters Association, Johnson is the eighth chief in 17-years.
