The California Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal traffic accident that took place on Saturday near Salinas. Authorities say that at about 6 p.m. a Honda Civic westbound on Highway 101 near Spence Road crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head on with a Mustang. One person was pronounced dead at the scene, six others were hospitalized. The cause of the accident is under investigation, however drugs and alcohol don appear to be a factor.
