The CHP is investigating a fatal crash that took place early Sunday in Salinas. Just after midnight officers responded to reports of an overturned car in a ditch off of West Boronda Road. At the scene they found the 56 year old driver pinned underneath the vehicle. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene a 24 year old passenger was transported to the hospital with moderate injuries. Alcohol is believed to a factor in the crash.
