Two women who were killed in a hit-and-run accident Wednesday night in Salinas have been identified. 24-year old Linda Rascon, worked as a security guard for Natividad Medical Center, while 57-year old Cynthia Lane, was a patient at Natividad who was leaving the hospital. The 7 p.m. incident occurred when Lane was accepting a ride at an intersection near the hospital, when the car drove away and she fell into the street. Rascon followed to return a backpack Lane had left behind, when she ran out to help her, and both were fatally struck by a white Ford Taurus driven by 23-year old Franciso Miranda. Miranda initially fled the scene but later returned. Police say they smelled marijuana on him and in his car. Miranda Has been charged with 2-felony counts of murder, Felony D-U-I, felony hit and run, and driving under a suspended license. This was Miranda’s 3rd DUI this year.
