OFFICIALS IN SALINAS ARE PREDICTING A RISING DEFICIT. SOURCES SAY THAT BY THE END OF THE 2014 FISCAL YEAR, THE CITY OF SALINAS COULD BE OPERATING WITH A 5 MILLION DOLLAR DEFICIT, BUT STRESS THAT THIS IS A PREDICTION. SOME CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS BELIEVE THAT IF THE CITY BUDGET ISN’T BALANCED THE DEFICIT COULD REACH CLOSE TO 13 MILLION DOLLARS OVER THE NEXT DECADE.
