Salinas Considers Limit On Shared Housing 10-26-18 05:27 DC

The City of Salinas is considering an ordinance that would limit to 7 the number of people who can legally share a home. The proposal is a reaction to complaints from residents that landlords sometimes crowd as many as 20 seasonal farmworkers into a single family home.

Officials say the ordinance is aimed at landlords who rent housing, not large family groups. The proposal may be considered at a November Salinas city council meeting.
