SALINAS OFFICIALS APPROVED FUNDING THIS WEEK TO BENEFIT THE CITY’S POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENTS. A GENERAL FUND ESTABLISHED BY MEASURE V IN 2005 HAS DISTRIBUTED MONEY TO DIFFERENT CITY DEPARTMENTS EVERY YEAR. THIS YEAR, $240,000 WILL GO TOWARD NEW PATROL CARS, WITH ANOTHER $75,000 GOING TOWARDS THE REPAIR OF THE FIREFIGHTER TRAINING FACILITY. THE FACILITY’S TRAINING TOWER WAS DECLARED A SAFETY HAZARD IN MAY.
