The Salinas Muncipal Airport received $1.1 million in federal grant money to improve its runway. Coming from the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airport Improvement Program, the funds are earmarked for the runway reconstruction project. City and airport officials originally applied for a $384,000 grant and were not expecting to receive more than a million dollars.
