A SALINAS MAN WAS ARRESTED AFTER THREATENING A STORE EMPLOYEE EARLY YESTERDAY MORNING (THURS). OFFICIALS SAY 28-YEAR-OLD ADRIAN CHACON ENTERED THE 7-11 ON NORTH MAIN STREET SHORTLY BEFORE 1. CHACON THEN THREATENED THE CLERK WITH A KNIFE, TELLING HIM IT WAS A ROBBERY AND TO CALL THE POLICE. THE EMPLOYEE DID AS INSTRUCTED AND THE SUSPECT REMAINED AT THE COUNTER UNTIL POLICE ARRIVED. HE THEN DROPPED THE KNIFE AND SURRENDERED HIMSELF TO ARRESTING OFFICERS. CHACON WAS BOOKED INTO MONTEREY COUNTY JAIL FOR ATTEMPTED ROBBERY.
