Salazar Not at Motel Six 11-05-19 20:30 DC

Monterey jail escapee Jonathan Salazar was not found last night when the Sheriff’s SWAT team entered the room where the 20-year-old murder suspect was thought to be hiding.

The event unfolded from early afternoon until about 7 PM when entry was made. Investigators told reporters they still believe Salazar had been at the Motel Six on Reservation Road in Marina. How he escaped and where he is now remains unknown.

Salazar and 19-year-old fellow escapee Santos Fonseca had been in custody since 2018 on suspicion of murder. The two reportedly escaped the county jail on Sunday through a small hole they had made in a bathroom ceiling.

Fonseca is described as being 5’7” and 150lbs. Salazar is 5’7 and 170lbs. Both are Hispanic with black hair and brown eyes. Both had been in custody since 2018.

A $5,000 reward is being offered in the case.
