a man was able to drive himself to the hospital after being shot in salinas early sunday morning. staff at a local hospital contacted salinas police officers when the victim arrived just before 2 a.m. he reported that he had been shot outside of a party on the 5-hundred block of santa maria street. the suspect had demanded his wallet, and shot him when he fled. the victim was later air lifted to a bay area hospital to undergo surgery to remove the bullet, which was lodged near his spinal chord. as of sunday night, no arrests had been made. The shooting came hours after a man was murdered on las casitas drive.
