A Salinas firefighter is expected to be sentenced to 5-years in prison, after accepting a plea deal on Friday. 43-year-old Andrew Scott McLaughlin entered the guilty plea to attempted rape of a minor, and other charges. He is expected to be officially sentenced in November. He remains on paid-administrative leave from the salinas fire department. The plea-bargain is known as an “Alford agreement”, in which the defendant admits guilt, because they believe that they are likely to be convicted, however they maintain that they did not commit the act.
