THE IDENTITY OF A MAN KILLED IN AN OFFICER-INVOLVED SHOOTING FRIDAY IN SALINAS HAS BEEN RELEASED. 26 YEAR-OLD OSMAN HERNANDEZ, IS SAID TO HAVE ACTED ERRATICALLY, AND THREATENED OFFICERS WITH A KNIFE, BEFORE OFFICERS SHOT AND KILLED HIM. A NUMBER OF PEOPLE REPORTEDLY WITNESSED THE INCIDENT, AND THE INFORMATION THEY CAN PROVIDE COULD BE HELPFUL TO THE INVESTIGATION OF THIS OFFICER-INVOLVED FATAL SHOOTING.
ALTHOUGH OFFICERS INITIALLY USED A STUN GUN ON HERNANDEZ, HE WAS STILL ABLE TO PULL A LARGE KNIFE FROM HIS PANTS AND SLASH AT OFFICERS AS THEY TRIED TO HANDCUFF HIM. THAT’S WHEN THEY FIRED SEVERAL ROUNDS AT HERNANDEZ, KILLING HIM.
