THE LAND TRUST OF SANTA CRUZ COUNTY HAVE EXPANDED PROTECTIONS ON SANDHILLS LAND IN SCOTTS VALLEY. THE LAND TRUST ACQUIRED THE RIGHTS TO PROTECT THIRTY-SEVEN MORE ACRES OF THE RARE HABITAT THIS MONTH. THE EASEMENT WILL PREVENT DEVELOPMENT ON THE SANDHILLSLAND, CONSERVING THE AREA’S UNIQUE ECOLOGY. SPECIES SUCH AS THE SANTA CRUZ KANGAROO RAT, THE BEN LOMOND SPINEFLOWER, AND THE MOUNT HERMON JUNE BEETLE ARE FOUND EXCLUSIVELY IN THE SANDHILLS HABITAT.
