REPORTS INDICATE THAT THE SHELTER-IN-PLACE ORDER WENT INTO EFFECT AROUND 10:30 THIS MORNING ON THE SOUTHERN END OF THE CAMPUS (NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF 7TH AND SAN SALVADOR). THAT AFTER STUDENTS SAY THEY SAW A WHITE MAN IN SWEENEY HALL, WHO WAS WEARING ALL DARK CLOTHING AND CARRYING A HANDGUN.
SAN JOSE POLICE OFFICERS ARE NOW DONG A ROOM BY ROOM SEARCH THROUGH THAT BUILDING. THE REST OF THE SAN JOSE STATE UNIVERSITY CAMPUS REMAINS OPEN.
