A starving sea lion pup was reportedly rescued recently by a Santa Cruz surf instructor. It was high tide when the little sea lion was spotted trying to make it to shore. The pup was then picked up by a volunteer of the Marine Mammal Center to be taken to their rehabilitation center. A Marine Mammal Center spokesperson suggests that contact between humans and marine critters be minimized, so the critters do not get used to people.
