BASED ON the CITY OF SANTA CRUZ’S APPEAL TO THE U.S. SUPREME COURT BEING DENIED YESTERDAY, A LOCAL POLITICAL ACTIVIST NOW HAS 30 DAYS TO FILE PAPERWORK, SO HIS CASE WILL GO BACK TO THE DISTRICT COURT IN SAN JOSE. BACK IN 2002, ROBERT NORSE WAS ARRESTED AT A SANTA CRUZ CITY COUNCIL MEETING, AFTER HE RAISED HIS ARM IN A NAZI SALUTE, AND THEN REFUSED TO LEAVE THE MEETING ROOM WHEN ASKED.
NORSE HAS ARGUED THAT HIS RIGHT TO FREEDOM OF SPEECH WAS VIOLATED WHEN THE CITY COUNCIL HAD HIM REMOVED FOR HIS DISRUPTIVE BEHAVIOR.
