AN APPELLATE COURT RULING HAS AFFIRMED SANTA CRUZ COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS’ RIGHT TO HOST RODEOS. THE LOWER COURT RULING WAS UPHELD TO AFFIRM EQUESTRIAN EVENTS FIT WITHIN THE HISTORICAL USES OF THE GROUNDS. IN THE PAST, CITIZENS FOR ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY HAVE CHALLENGED THE RODEO, CITING POLLUTION AND NOISE. FAIRGROUND OFFICIALS SPENT OVER 100-THOUSAND DOLLARS IN COURT DEFENDING THEIR EVENT. THE SANTA CRUZ COUNTY FAIR WILL CONTINUE IN SEPTEMBER.
