A MAN, WHO WAS SUSPENDED WITHOUT PAY AFTER HE STEPPED-IN TO HELP A PREGNANT WOMAN, HAS BEEN RE-INSTATED WITH BACK PAY. RYAN YOUNG REPORTEDLY GOT THE CALL FROM SAFEWAY THIS MORNING, THAT HE WOULD BE BACK ON THE SCHEDULE FOR THE DEL REY OAKS SAFEWAY NEXT WEEK.
Ron Lind, the UFCW Union President IS QUOTED AS HAVING SAID, “While Safeway has legitimate policies and concerns around workplace violence (and the appropriate employee response), once the company heard our presentation of the case (including Ryan’s explanation of the incident), management realized that the suspension was not appropriate, and immediately worked with us to resolve the grievance and put Ryan back to work.”
