Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds officials have revoked their authorization of a rodeo event that was to be held at the grounds this fall. The board sent a letter to the event’s planners last week, informing them of its decision to reverse course. The organization Stars of Justice, Incorporated had hoped to put on the rodeo event to raise money for community organizations. The board did not cite a reason in revoking the offer, however it is likely in response to pressure from animal welfare groups, such as the group “Stop the Rodeo,” which had urged against holding the event.
