The driver of a van was uninjured when it fell into a washed out section of roadway in the Santa Cruz mountains. The driver, who had gone to the store to purchase candles, was returning home from the store late last night, when the van fell into a gap that had opened up on Skyland Road near the summit. C.H.P. says that portion of Skyland Road is 80 percent washed out, and area residents are using Stetson Road as an alternate.
