Governor Gavin Newsom has said that while he plans to provide a statewide framework to gradually ease restrictions, county health officers will continue to make their own decisions based on local conditions. Officials with the Santa Cruz County Health Services Agency say they are hoping to ease restrictions a bit on May 4th. Initially, they’re mostly looking at lifting restrictions on outdoor construction, landscaping and gardening, and possibly people playing golf as well. Health officials are also looking at allowing groups of up to 10 people to gather. If all of that goes well, by early July they hope to allow groups of up to 50 people to gather. Although those are some of their plans for easing restrictions, all of that will clearly be based on what happens between now and then. They expect to try various measures, in hopes that none will allow a surge of Covid-19 cases in the county
