In an effort to assist the U.S. Forest service in planting 1.2 billion trees in national forests burned by last year’s wildfires, bi-partisan legislation has now been introduced to the U.S. Congress. If approved and signed into law, the Repairing Existing Public Land By Adding Necessary Trees Act, also known as the REPLANT Act, would mandate federal funding for the Reforestation Trust Fund…..and that could lead to hiring 49,000 people over the next 10 years to help with that re-forestation.
Under this act, land in need of reforestation due to natural disasters that is unlikely to naturally re-grow on its own would also be prioritized.
