Governor Gavin Newsom signed an executive order this week, that extends local governments’ abilities to halt evictions for renters impacted by the pandemic. Although it means that renters won’t need to pay rent during the pandemic (if they are out of work because of it), however, they will still have to pay their rent later down the line, after the pandemic ends. The new order lasts through September 30th.
