Red tides have reportedly returned to the west coast, and one of the places they have been reported is Seacliff State Beach. Although the tide itself is not a threat to human health, people are reminded not to eat locally harvested shellfish between May and October. The rapid algae bloom (that colors the water red), sucks up oxygen, making it difficult for marine life to breathe. Scientists say that we can expect more days of red tide as we move into Autumn.
