It’s rattlesnake season, and anyone who is bitten is encouraged to call 9-1-1, to receive medical attention. Sightings of rattlesnakes have been reported for the last few weeks in various areas of california, including in monterey county. It is also mating season for the snakes that can be mistaken for the much more common gopher snakes (which can imitate a rattling sound, but who are not venomous).
