People are asked to stop putting rat poison where pets and wildlife can get to it. That’s because a poisoned rat, that is eaten by a predator, can sicken or kill that predator as well. Nearly 100 poisoned animals have been found by Emergency Wildlife Services over the past 3 years, with a sick bobcat found Friday at Wilder Ranch State Park, and a poisoned hawk was discovered Saturday in Prunedale. Anyone who spots a sick animal is encouraged to call Emergency Wildlife Services at (866) 945-3911.
