Some people rallied outside Salinas City Hall, after the Salinas City Council voted 5 to 2 to increase the city’s police budget. An attorney has said that the increase, which is 1.7 million dollars, was decided upon by the previous city council, and there could be legal issues if the current council does not follow through. In specific, not following through could be a violation of the Meyers-Milias-Brown Act.
