Police on the Central Coast have reported an increase in a new-way cars are being broken into lately. So far, 4 suspects have been arrested in Santa Cruz, Watsonville, Monterey and Pacific Grove for lock punching, a tactic, police say involves using simple household tools to disable vehicle locks. The latest report was received last Thursday after a Watsonville man lost a G-P-S unit and a pair of binoculars after the lock in the driver’s side of his Ford F-350 truck had been punched out during an auto burglary.
