Public Transit Cuts Due to Covid-19 03.16.2020 0750 js

Service disruptions and schedule cuts to public transit service are a lingering threat for Santa Cruz and Monterey passengers.

On Sunday afternoon, Santa Cruz Metro announced that could be the case in a text and email alert sent to their riders.

In the alert, Santa Cruz Metro CEO Alex Clifford asks that customers should “consider using the METRO system for ‘essential’ trips only, such as work and medical appointments”.

While there are no known service cuts at this time for Santa Cruz and Monterey Salinas Transit riders, Caltrain has eliminated “baby bullet” express train service due to declining ridership.

Santa Cruz Metro riders can sign up for service disruption alerts online at SCMTD.Com.
